Pine Bluff, AR (November 14, 2024) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a fatal accident involving a pedestrian on AR 365 at the intersection of Dollarway Road and Rosebud Street in Pine Bluff, at approximately 5:16 AM. According to the initial investigation, a 59-year-old male pedestrian, identified as Tracy T. Brown of Pine Bluff, was fatally struck by two vehicles.
Vehicle 1, a 2014 Ford F150, was traveling northbound on AR 365 in the inside travel lane when Mr. Brown reportedly walked out in front of the vehicle. The front corner of the Ford F150 struck Mr. Brown. Vehicle 2, a 2015 Chevrolet van, was traveling southbound in the inside travel lane. The driver of the van did not see Mr. Brown in the roadway and was unable to avoid him, striking the pedestrian as he was lying in the road.
The accident occurred under cloudy and rainy conditions, with wet road conditions that may have contributed to the tragic outcome. Authorities have confirmed that no other individuals were injured in the incident. The body of the deceased has been transported to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office for further examination.
Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Tracy T. Brown during this incredibly difficult time.
Pedestrian Accidents in Arkansas
Pedestrian accidents, such as the one in Pine Bluff, are particularly tragic due to the vulnerability of those involved. Roadways like AR 365, especially during rainy conditions, present hazards for both pedestrians and drivers. In this case, the pedestrian was unable to avoid being struck, leading to a fatality, even though two vehicles were involved.
The weather and road conditions likely played a significant role in this incident. Wet roads, combined with reduced visibility due to cloudy skies, can impair a driver’s ability to react in time to avoid a pedestrian. While drivers must always remain vigilant, pedestrians must also take extra caution when crossing roads, particularly in less illuminated or high-traffic areas.
For those affected by such accidents, the emotional and financial toll can be overwhelming. Families of victims often face the additional burden of funeral expenses, legal matters, and grief. Seeking assistance from legal and medical professionals can help ease the recovery process, providing support during this challenging time.
