Pike County, AL (December 12, 2024) – A deadly crash occurred Wednesday morning in Pike County, leaving one man dead and another injured. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reports that a Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 51-year-old Kevin Andrew Flannagan of Opelika, collided head-on with a Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer just after 8:30 a.m. The crash took place on U.S. 231 near mile marker 61, approximately four miles south of Brundidge.

Flannagan, the driver of the Chevrolet, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the tractor-trailer driver was transported to a hospital in Troy for treatment of injuries. The collision resulted in a nearly six-hour closure of the roadway as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the crash. ALEA is actively looking into the incident to determine what led to the fatal crash.

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Kevin Andrew Flannagan, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured truck driver.
