Piedmont, SC – Driver Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-85 near Mile Marker 39

Piedmont, SC (September 19, 2024) – A driver was injured in a multi-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning on I-85 southbound near mile marker 39. The Powdersville Fire Department, along with Wren Fire Department, responded to the crash around 3:55 a.m. The South Carolina Highway Patrol was assisting a disabled BMW in the roadway when a tow truck driver stopped to help. Minutes later, another vehicle struck the tow truck.

The driver of the struck vehicle was pinned against the steering column but was quickly freed by fire crews. The extent of injuries remains unclear. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
