Phelps, MO (January 06, 2025) – A crash occurred at 7:42 PM on eastbound I-44 at the 182.8 mile marker, resulting in minor injuries and significant damage to the vehicles involved. Emergency responders from Phelps County Fire and Rescue were quick to arrive on the scene, where they assisted those involved in the incident.
The crash occurred as a 2023 International LT625, driven by a 43-year-old male from Ada, OK, was stopped in traffic due to an earlier crash. While stopped, the driver of the Freightliner Cascadia, a 51-year-old male from Amarillo, TX, was unable to stop in time as his vehicle slid on the icy roadway, colliding with the towed unit of the International truck. The impact caused extensive damage to the Freightliner, which was towed from the scene. The driver of the International truck, who suffered only injuries, was able to drive the vehicle from the scene, while his 53-year-old female passenger, also from Ada, OK, chose to seek her own treatment for her injuries.
The crash is being investigated by CPL C.M. Barclay, and at this time, no further details on the cause have been released.
