Phelps County, MO (November 10, 2024) – A multi-vehicle crash involving three cars occurred on I-44 westbound near mile marker 173 on Saturday afternoon, leaving two individuals with serious injuries. The incident was reported at approximately 1:20 PM and prompted a rapid response from emergency services.
According to authorities, congestion on I-44 caused Vehicles 2 (a 2020 GMC Acadia) and 3 (a 2012 Toyota Camry) to slow down. Vehicle 1 (a 2011 Nissan Altima) then struck the rear of the GMC Acadia, pushing it into the Toyota Camry. All vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Jack’s Towing, TC Towing, and D&D Towing.
Two individuals suffered serious injuries in the crash:
- The driver of the Nissan Altima, a 28-year-old male from Lebanon, MO, was transported to Phelps Health in Rolla for treatment.
- A 64-year-old male passenger in the GMC Acadia from O’Fallon, MO, also sustained serious injuries and was taken to Phelps Health for medical care.
All individuals involved were reported to have been wearing safety devices at the time of the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, including potential contributing factors such as traffic conditions and driver reaction times.
