Pettis County, MO (February 14, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on Route D west of US-65 left one person injured Wednesday evening.
Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victim. The crash occurred at approximately 7:27 p.m. when a 2003 Buick LeSabre traveling eastbound lost control and began to slide. The driver attempted to regain control but overcorrected, causing the vehicle to veer into the westbound lane. A 1997 GMC Sierra, traveling westbound, was unable to avoid the collision and struck the Buick.
Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the crash. The 40-year-old female driver of the Buick LeSabre sustained injuries and was transported by Pettis County EMS to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment. The 56-year-old male driver of the GMC Sierra was not reported injured.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene, with the Buick being removed by InMotion Tow and the GMC Sierra by a private tow service. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, reviewing factors such as road conditions and driver actions that may have contributed to the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we hope for a full recovery.
Car Accidents in Missouri
Missouri roadways, particularly in rural areas, often pose challenges for drivers due to varying road conditions and unexpected hazards. Incidents like this, where overcorrection leads to loss of control, are common and can result in serious accidents.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), loss of control accidents are a leading cause of crashes on state roads. Factors such as weather conditions, excessive speed, and driver reactions play a role in these incidents. Drivers are encouraged to maintain safe speeds, avoid sudden steering maneuvers, and ensure their vehicles are equipped for the road conditions they may encounter.
For those injured in car accidents, seeking prompt medical care is essential. Additionally, understanding insurance claims and legal rights can help individuals recover compensation for medical expenses and vehicle damage.
