Penn Township, PA (January 5, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision on January 3 resulted in the death of a 2-year-old girl and injuries to two others on Bernville Rd in Berks County. The crash occurred at approximately 5:00 AM in the 5900 block of the roadway.
Preliminary reports indicate that a van, driven by a 55-year-old man from Auburn, PA, was traveling south when it crossed the solid double-yellow line, colliding head-on with an SUV. The SUV was driven by a 27-year-old woman from Reading, with the 2-year-old girl as a passenger.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, working to extricate the van driver and provide immediate medical attention to all parties involved. All three individuals were transported to Reading Hospital. Despite efforts to save her, the 2-year-old girl was tragically pronounced dead at the hospital. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
