Pecos County, TX (November 26, 2024) – A deadly two-vehicle crash occurred early Monday morning near FM 1776 in Pecos County, resulting in the death of one individual. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to the scene at 6:15 AM, where they found a 2022 BMW 330 and a 1998 Ford F-150 involved in the collision. According to Sergeant Steven Blanco, the BMW, driven by 37-year-old Gilbert Sanchez with 70-year-old Michael Sanchez as a passenger, was traveling westbound on the IH-10 Frontage Road when it approached the intersection of FM 1776.
The Ford F-150, driven by 23-year-old Kevin Rojas-Maynez, was traveling southbound. As the BMW attempted to make a maneuver at the intersection, it failed to yield the right of way to the F-150, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles. Tragically, Gilbert Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, all individuals involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
