Parma, ID (January 30, 2025) – A tragic crash just north of Parma claimed the life of a 22-year-old passenger on Tuesday, according to the Idaho State Police.
The accident occurred when a 24-year-old man driving a Honda Civic northbound on U.S. 95 attempted to turn west onto U.S. 20-26. At the same time, a 25-year-old woman from Kansas was traveling south in a Toyota, leading to a collision at the intersection.
The 22-year-old passenger in the Honda suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Honda driver was transported to a hospital via ambulance for medical treatment, while the driver of the Toyota was able to drive herself to a hospital. Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Following the accident, the intersection of U.S. 95 and U.S. 20-26 was blocked for approximately four hours as police conducted their investigation and crews worked to clear the roadway. The Idaho State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time, and we hope for a full recovery for the injured.
Intersection Accidents in Idaho
Idaho’s highways, including U.S. 95 and U.S. 20-26, see frequent traffic due to their role as key transportation routes. Intersections, particularly those with multiple lanes and high-speed traffic, are common sites for serious collisions. Accidents at intersections often occur due to failure to yield, misjudged turns, or limited visibility.
While seat belts significantly reduce the risk of severe injury, high-impact crashes—especially those involving turning vehicles—can still lead to devastating consequences. Defensive driving, reducing speed when approaching intersections, and ensuring clear right-of-way can help minimize the risk of such collisions.
For those involved in accidents, seeking medical attention is crucial, even if injuries appear minor. Some injuries, such as internal trauma or concussions, may not be immediately evident. Additionally, gathering documentation such as a police report and eyewitness accounts can be vital for insurance claims and legal proceedings.
