Pedestrian Accidents in New Jersey
Pedestrian accidents in residential areas, like the one on Farview Avenue, highlight the vulnerabilities of individuals traveling on foot. Urban and suburban roads often see these tragic incidents, frequently caused by factors such as driver distraction, speeding, or low visibility during evening hours. Sadly, these accidents often result in life-altering injuries or fatalities, leaving families and communities devastated.
New Jersey law imposes a duty of care on drivers to yield to pedestrians at marked crosswalks and exercise caution in residential and high-foot-traffic areas. When drivers fail to uphold this responsibility, the consequences can be catastrophic. Victims and their families are entitled to seek justice and compensation for their losses, including medical expenses, funeral costs, and emotional distress.
To prevent pedestrian accidents, drivers must remain alert, reduce speed in residential neighborhoods, and be mindful of their surroundings, particularly during low-light conditions. Pedestrians, too, should take precautions, such as using designated crosswalks and wearing reflective clothing when walking at night.
