Palmview, TX (November 30, 2024) – A deadly crash involving three vehicles is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) after road rage allegedly led to a high-speed chase. The incident occurred on Wednesday at the intersection of West Mile 3 Rd and North Bentsen Palm Dr, located just north of Palmview.
According to DPS, a man riding a Honda CBR motorcycle was traveling eastbound on West Mile 3 Rd when he was reportedly being pursued at high speed by a 2015 Buick Regal. The chase, initiated after a road rage argument between the motorcycle rider and the Buick driver, ended in a collision. The Buick rear-ended a gray Ford Fiesta, which was waiting at a red light before it struck a white Chevrolet Silverado.
Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, providing care to those injured. A passenger in the Silverado was transported to Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance, where she was treated and later released. Unfortunately, the driver of the Buick, 30-year-old Ramiro Ezequiel Garcia of Mission, succumbed to his injuries on Friday after being transferred to McAllen Medical Center.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office has interviewed the motorcyclist, who confirmed that the dangerous chase began following a dispute with Garcia. DPS reports that the Buick driver was recklessly weaving in and out of traffic before causing the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, and DPS urges drivers in the area to stay alert as they continue to examine the cause of the fatal incident. Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased and the individuals affected by this tragic event.
