Palmetto, FL (October 30, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred early Wednesday morning when a pickup truck crashed into a utility pole and caught fire on I-275 near the I-75 interchange in Manatee County. The incident took place shortly after 3:15 a.m., leading to the loss of three lives.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the truck veered off the road and struck a utility pole in the median before igniting. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, the driver and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims are currently being investigated by FHP.
The crash caused significant traffic delays, with backups reported for several hours as troopers conducted their investigation and worked to clear the area.
