Palm Beach Gardens, FL (November 27, 2024) – A 14-year-old boy has tragically passed away five days after a collision involving his dirt bike and a Toyota Tacoma at the intersection of Hood Rd and Eastpointe Blvd, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).

The incident occurred on November 20, 2024, around 5:30 PM. The teen was riding an unregistered dirt bike westbound on Hood Rd when he entered the intersection at Eastpointe Blvd. Simultaneously, a Toyota Tacoma traveling eastbound on Hood Rd attempted a left turn onto Eastpointe Blvd. The vehicle turned into the path of the dirt bike, leading to a collision.

The driver of the Toyota immediately braked and remained at the scene to assist with the investigation. Emergency responders transported the critically injured teen to Saint Mary’s Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries five days later.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the teenager during this incredibly difficult time.

Dirt Bike Safety and Traffic Incidents in Florida

Collisions involving dirt bikes are particularly dangerous, as riders lack the structural protections afforded by standard vehicles. Accidents at intersections, such as Hood Rd and Eastpointe Blvd, highlight the risks associated with unregistered vehicles like dirt bikes, which are often not designed for on-road use.

This tragic incident underscores the importance of roadway awareness and safe maneuvering, especially at busy intersections. Drivers are reminded to remain vigilant for all types of vehicles, including bicycles and dirt bikes, to help prevent accidents.

For families dealing with the loss of a loved one due to a traffic accident, seeking support and understanding legal options can be crucial steps toward finding justice and closure.
