Ozark County, MO (December 4, 2024) – A tragic crash on the evening of December 3rd, 2024, claimed the life of a 16-year-old female and left an adult male with injuries. The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of US Hwy 5, approximately 10 miles northwest of Gainesville, MO.
According to Missouri State Police, the juvenile driver of a 2010 Pontiac 5 failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling westbound. As she crossed into the path of a southbound 2014 Ford F150, the truck collided with the passenger side of the Pontiac. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the southwest side of the intersection and come to a stop.
The 16-year-old driver of the Pontiac, from Tecumseh, MO, was fatally injured in the crash. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene, and her body was transported to Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, MO. The male driver of the Ford F150, a 44-year-old from Gainesville, MO, sustained minor injuries and was taken to an unknown hospital by private vehicle.
Both vehicles were totaled in the collision and were towed by Ron’s Recovery at the county’s request. The Ozark County Coroner, Gene Britt, confirmed the fatality at 8:30 PM, and next of kin were notified.
