Oxford, NY (March 4, 2025) – A tragic single-vehicle crash in Chenango County early Saturday morning resulted in the death of a New Hartford man, according to New York State Police.
Authorities were dispatched to State Route 12 in the town of Oxford at approximately 1:30 a.m. following reports of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, police and firefighters from the Oxford Fire Department discovered a burning car. After extinguishing the flames, emergency crews found one deceased occupant inside the vehicle.
An investigation determined that 25-year-old Christopher Ojuro, of New Hartford, had been driving northbound on Route 12 when his vehicle veered off the roadway. The car struck a guiderail before colliding with a tree, which caused it to catch fire.
Ojuro was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.
