Owen County, KY (October 20, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Friday along US 127 North near KY 36, resulting in the death of a woman. According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP), the incident involved a police vehicle from the Owen County Sheriff’s Office responding to an overdose complaint with its emergency lights and sirens activated.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a 2014 Subaru Forester, driven by 71-year-old Kathleen Fresard, was traveling north on US 127 ahead of several other vehicles and the deputy’s patrol car. As the deputy attempted to pass the slower traffic, Fresard made a left turn directly into the path of the oncoming police vehicle, leading to the collision.
