Ouachita Co, AR (November 27, 2024) – Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a fatal accident on U.S. Highway 79, north of AR-9, at approximately 10:30 AM. The crash involved two vehicles, a 2014 Chevy Silverado and a 2018 Ram 2500, both traveling southbound. The Ram 2500 rear-ended the Chevy Silverado, causing it to veer off the left side of the roadway and strike several trees. The driver of the Silverado, 69-year-old James D. Cannedy from Bearden, AR, was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger in the Silverado, 78-year-old Jimmie L. Williams, also from Bearden, AR, sustained injuries and was transported to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport, LA.
