Oskaloosa, KS (September 17, 2024) – A serious accident occurred on September 16, 2024, when a car collided with a school bus on K-92, approximately two miles west of Oskaloosa in Jefferson County. The incident took place around 7:15 AM when the school bus was stopped to pick up passengers.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the 15-year-old driver of an eastbound Volvo sedan was unable to see the bus due to the sun’s glare and rear-ended the vehicle. The impact resulted in injuries, prompting emergency responders to transport the teenager to a hospital in Topeka for treatment of suspected serious injuries.
Additionally, three young children on the bus, aged 3, 5, and 10, were also taken to the hospital for precautionary evaluations. Fortunately, the bus driver and the 16 other children aboard were unharmed in the accident.
