Orlando, FL (February 17, 2025) – A 55-year-old Orlando man tragically lost his life in a rear-end collision early Monday morning in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred around 12:17 a.m. at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail (OBT) and Hunter’s Creek Boulevard. Authorities reported that a 56-year-old Texas man was driving a 2025 Volkswagen Atlas southbound on OBT in the center lane when he failed to notice a 2012 Mazda 3 stopped at a traffic signal ahead.

The Volkswagen struck the rear of the Mazda with significant force. Emergency responders quickly arrived and transported both drivers to Osceola Regional Medical Center. Despite receiving medical care, the Orlando man succumbed to his injuries. The driver from Texas sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this crash, and no further details have been released at this time.

Our thoughts go out to the family and loved ones affected by this devastating accident.

Rear-End Collisions in Florida

Rear-end collisions are one of the most common types of accidents on Florida roads, often resulting from distracted driving, speeding, or failure to maintain a safe following distance. Even at moderate speeds, these crashes can cause severe injuries, particularly when significant force is involved.

Florida traffic laws emphasize the responsibility of drivers to remain alert and adjust their speed to road conditions. In cases where a rear-end collision results in a fatality, the victim’s family may have legal options to seek compensation for medical expenses, funeral costs, and other damages.
