Orangeburg County, SC (October 1, 2024) – A tragic auto-pedestrian collision occurred Monday night, resulting in the death of one individual. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident took place on Highway 601 near Magnolia Street, approximately one mile north of Orangeburg.
The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. when a 2019 Hyundai Sonata was traveling south on the highway. As the pedestrian was crossing the road headed west, the vehicle struck the individual. The impact left the pedestrian deceased and sent the driver of the Sonata, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, to the hospital for treatment.
