Orange City, FL (September 2, 2024) – A head-on collision on E Graves Ave and Raintree Dr resulted in the death of a bicyclist on Monday, September 2. Joel Acevedo, 35, was riding an electric bicycle westbound when he was struck by a Hyundai driven by Robert David Halpern, 81, traveling east in the westbound lane.

Acevedo died at the scene. Halpern was taken to Advent Health Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City for evaluation. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.
