Ontario, OR (October 23, 2024) – A serious head-on collision occurred on Interstate 84 on October 20, resulting in significant injuries to a Huntington resident. The incident took place around 9:34 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 55-year-old Traci Nichole Dripps from Nampa, was traveling east in the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a Ford F-350 operated by 32-year-old Mason Allen Orme of Huntington.
According to preliminary investigations by the Oregon State Police, Dripps’s vehicle struck Orme’s truck after it had been reported that she was driving the wrong way on the interstate. State Police received a complaint about the wrong-way driver approximately six minutes before the crash occurred and were en route to address the situation at the time of the collision.
Traci Nichole Dripps sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mason Allen Orme was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries. The impact of the crash forced the closure of the interstate for about four hours as first responders worked diligently to clear the scene.
