Oconee County, SC (March 8, 2025) – Two employees were hospitalized following an incident at an electrical substation in Oconee County on Thursday morning, according to New Horizon Electric Cooperative.
The incident occurred on Snow Creek Rd in Westminster at a substation owned by New Horizon Electric Cooperative, which supplies power to Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative distribution lines. Authorities received reports of a possible electrocution involving two employees at the facility.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found coworkers providing aid to the injured individuals. One employee was transported by ground to a hospital in Greenville, while the second was airlifted to a burn center in Augusta, Georgia, for further treatment.
An update provided by New Horizon Electric Cooperative at 4:30 p.m. confirmed that both employees are in stable condition. Officials have not yet released further details regarding the cause of the incident, and an investigation is ongoing.
