Motorcycle Crashes in Florida
Florida is one of the leading states in motorcycle-related fatalities due to its year-round riding conditions and high volume of traffic. Intersections like SW 80th Ave and SW 80th St often pose risks for motorcyclists, especially during early morning hours when visibility is reduced.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), over 8,000 motorcycle crashes occurred in Florida in 2023, many resulting in severe injuries or deaths. Collisions at intersections are a common cause, often due to drivers failing to see oncoming motorcycles.
Drivers are reminded to double-check for motorcycles before turning or changing lanes, and motorcyclists are encouraged to wear reflective gear and drive defensively to increase visibility.
