Hit-and-Run Crashes in Florida
Hit-and-run crashes, like the one that tragically claimed the life of Mariano Raymundo, are far too common on Florida’s roadways. These incidents leave victims and their families devastated while posing challenges for law enforcement in locating those responsible.
Pedestrians and cyclists, including e-bike riders, are particularly vulnerable in such crashes due to their lack of protection compared to motor vehicles. Collisions often occur at intersections or busy roadways like SR-200, where visibility and high traffic volume can contribute to the risk of accidents.
Drivers are legally and morally obligated to stop and provide assistance when involved in a crash. Fleeing the scene only compounds the tragedy and carries severe legal penalties.
