Nottoway County, VA – Fatal Car Accident on Rte 460 near Cellar Creek Rd

Nottoway County, VA (September 6, 2024) – A deadly car crash occurred on Wednesday, September 4, on Rte 460 near Cellar Creek Rd. At around 9:53 a.m., James Bernard Franklin, 46, of Petersburg, drove a 2014 Ford F-150 off the road. 

The vehicle hit a tree, spun, and struck another tree. Franklin, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. His passenger, Margaret Jones, 49, of Nottoway, suffered injuries and was airlifted for medical treatment. Jones was wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and are expected to provide further updates as more details emerge.
