Northport, ME (January 16, 2025) – A severe crash on Route 1 in Northport Wednesday morning left one man with life-threatening injuries and another with serious injuries. The collision occurred around 10:30 a.m. and involved an SUV and a tractor-trailer.
According to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Cody Arsenault was traveling southbound in an SUV when the vehicle in front of him slowed down to make a turn. Arsenault reportedly crossed the center line to pass the slowing vehicle, colliding head-on with an oncoming tractor-trailer.
Arsenault was ejected from his vehicle due to the force of the impact and sustained life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby medical facility by ambulance, after which he was airlifted by Life Flight of Maine for further treatment. The 51-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer was also injured and taken to Waldo County General Hospital for care. The severity of his injuries has not been disclosed.
