North Port, FL (January 29, 2025) – An 83-year-old man lost his life in a crash involving a dump truck on Tuesday morning in North Port. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 10:14 a.m. at the intersection of Tempest Harbor Loop and River Rd.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Lexus SUV eastbound on Tempest Harbor Loop when he approached a stop sign at River Rd. He proceeded into the intersection, driving directly in front of a southbound dump truck. The truck struck the left side of the Lexus, resulting in a devastating impact.
Sarasota County EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the Lexus driver deceased. The identity of the victim has not been released.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is actively investigating the crash. No further details have been provided at this time.
