North Fort Myers, FL (October 11, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on October 10 in the Island Vista Estates community, resulting in the death of a 7-year-old girl. The incident took place at approximately 12:26 PM in front of 217 Gazelle Drive.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 69-year-old man from North Fort Myers, was traveling eastbound on Gazelle Drive when the incident occurred. Reports indicate that the young girl was on a side street north of Gazelle Drive when she unexpectedly entered the direct path of the pickup truck. The front left side of the truck struck the girl, leading to critical injuries.
Emergency responders quickly transported the girl to Gulf Coast Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. This heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock.
The Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. As part of their investigation, a portion of Gazelle Drive has been blocked off to facilitate their work.
