NoHo, NY (March 6, 2025) – A person was injured after coming into contact with a southbound 6 train at Bleecker Street Station on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency responders arrived quickly to assess the situation and assist the individual, who was removed from the tracks and transferred to EMS for treatment.
Authorities received the initial report at approximately 3:41 p.m., indicating that a person had been struck by the train. In response, emergency personnel coordinated efforts to cut power to all southbound trains, ensuring a safe rescue operation. By 3:52 p.m., the individual was safely removed, though conflicting reports later emerged regarding whether they were struck by the train or had fallen onto the tracks.
Service disruptions followed, with southbound 6 trains running express between 14th Street-Union Square and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. Meanwhile, southbound 5 trains were rerouted onto the 2 line from 149th Street-Grand Concourse to Nevins Street. Northbound 4 and 5 trains operated on local tracks from Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall to Grand Central-42nd Street as emergency operations unfolded.
Power was restored to the tracks by 4:07 p.m., and service adjustments remained to accommodate commuters. The cause of the incident is under investigation, and officials have not released further details about the individual’s condition.
Our thoughts are with the injured individual, and we hope for their full recovery.
