Nisswa, MN (December 6, 2024) – An injury accident occurred at the intersection of southbound Highway 371 and County Road 77 in Nisswa, Crow Wing County, on December 5, 2024, at approximately 11:12 AM. The crash involved a 2022 Jeep Renegade and a 2014 Ram 1500.
The Jeep Renegade, driven by 77-year-old Richard Owen Kimmel from Hackensack, MN, was traveling southbound on Highway 371 when it collided with the Ram 1500, which was in the left turn lane preparing to turn from northbound Highway 371 onto westbound County Road 77. The vehicles made contact in the intersection, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to the driver of the Jeep.
Kimmel was transported to Essentia St. Joe Brainerd for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the Ram 1500, 75-year-old Ronald Frank Cherne from Brainerd, MN, was uninjured and did not require medical attention. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and no alcohol is believed to have been involved in the crash.
Emergency responders from the Nisswa Police Department, Nisswa Fire Department, and North Memorial Ambulance quickly arrived at the scene and assisted with the incident. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
