Newport, NC (January 14, 2025) – A school bus carrying special needs children was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Turnpike Rd near Highway 101 in Newport. The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident early Tuesday morning and stated that multiple emergency agencies responded to the scene.
The crash occurred in the 400 block of Turnpike Rd, where the school bus and a passenger vehicle collided. Four students on board the bus sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
