New Orleans, LA (January 9, 2025) – A two-alarm fire erupted at a two-story duplex on the 3000 block of Toledano St. on Wednesday, displacing multiple residents and causing injuries. The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received an emergency call at 12:37 p.m., and the first unit arrived promptly at 12:40 p.m., according to an official press release.
The blaze escalated rapidly, prompting the declaration of a second alarm at 12:44 p.m. Firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the flames that not only destroyed the duplex at 3017-19 Toledano St. but also inflicted mild to moderate fire, smoke, and water damage to nearby structures. The affected buildings include a single-family home and several apartments within the St. Peter Claver Apartments complex.
A robust response team comprising 46 personnel and 17 units succeeded in bringing the fire under control by 1:29 p.m. While all residents were able to escape, one adult male suffered cuts to his legs and hands during the ordeal. Emergency responders treated him on-site.
