New Gloucester, ME (January 12, 2025) – A 20-year-old man lost his life, and his passenger sustained serious injuries in a crash on Dougherty Rd in New Gloucester early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 12:12 a.m., according to New Gloucester Fire Rescue.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 97 Dougherty Rd after reports of a crash with entrapment and one unresponsive individual. First responders arrived to find the driver deceased and the passenger heavily entrapped in the vehicle. After a prolonged extrication effort, the passenger was transported to Maine Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased driver as Brandon Robinson of Damariscotta. The passenger, Cody Huff of Portland, is expected to survive, authorities confirmed.
According to the sheriff’s office, Robinson was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EUV westbound on Dougherty Rd when he lost control of the vehicle. The SUV crossed the center line, left the roadway, and struck a wooden fence before colliding with a large tree.
The incident remains under investigation.
