New Bern, NC (September 8, 2024) – A fatal multi-vehicle crash occurred Saturday morning at the intersection of S Glenburnie Rd and Elizabeth Ave. Authorities report that a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 90-year-old Clifford Oliver, crossed the center line, colliding with a 2000 Ford Super Duty truck heading south.

The impact caused the Ford to hit a 2015 Toyota Highlander, which flipped over. Both Oliver and the Highlander’s driver were taken to Carolina East Medical Center, where Oliver was pronounced dead. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
