Nashville, TN (February 23, 2025) – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing 8th Avenue South on Saturday night, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:20 PM in front of 2214 8th Avenue South. Authorities reported that the victim had parked his truck at a nearby dry cleaner and was likely crossing the street to reach a restaurant when he was hit by a red Jeep. The Jeep fled the scene, leaving the man critically injured.

A second vehicle was also involved in the collision, but that driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Several bystanders rushed to assist the injured pedestrian, and multiple witnesses called 911 for help.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

A county-wide BOLO (Be On the Lookout) has been issued for the suspect vehicle, described as a red Jeep with a black door and front driver’s side damage.

As part of the investigation, authorities closed 8th Avenue South from Bradford Avenue to Prentice Avenue while the Fatal Accident Crash Team assessed the scene.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we hope for a full recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents in Tennessee

Pedestrian accidents are a growing concern in Nashville, particularly along high-traffic roads like 8th Avenue South, where foot traffic and vehicle congestion often intersect.

According to the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security, pedestrian-related crashes are frequently caused by speeding, failure to yield, and driver inattention. Unfortunately, hit-and-run accidents make it more difficult for victims to receive immediate medical care and legal justice.

Pedestrians struck by vehicles often suffer severe or life-threatening injuries, including fractures, head trauma, and internal injuries. Those injured due to reckless or negligent driving may be eligible to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
