The driver of the Ford, identified as Walter Guillermo Hidalgo-Gonzalez, 41, from La Vergne, was transported to TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Honda, 18-year-old Fredy Hernandez Escalante, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. Following his release from the hospital, he is expected to face charges for driving without a license or insurance. Authorities reported that neither driver showed signs of impairment at the time of the accident.
