Nashville, TN (October 14, 2024) – A multi-vehicle accident occurred on October 12, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The incident took place on Interstate 24 East near mile marker 112, as reported by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
According to THP, a semi-truck was traveling in the right lane of I-24 when traffic abruptly slowed to a near stop. In an attempt to avoid a collision with a Dodge Ram in front of him, the semi-truck driver, identified as 36-year-old Fidel Nzitonda, swerved onto the shoulder. Despite this maneuver, the semi-truck made contact with the back of the Dodge Ram’s trailer.
Following the initial contact, Nzitonda cut back into the right lane, where he collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Express cargo van. The impact caused the van to veer off the right side of the roadway, leading it into a tree line before ultimately striking a tree.
The semi-truck continued across both lanes and rolled over onto its driver’s side, coming to a rest in the median. The THP confirmed that two of the three drivers involved sustained injuries as a result of this crash.
