Nashville, TN (January 18, 2025) – A fatal two-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 East near McCrory Lane claimed the life of Gerald Edgman, a 73-year-old man from Paris, Tennessee, on Friday morning.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the crash occurred at approximately 9:15 AM as traffic slowed for an upcoming construction zone. Edgman, driving a Toyota Camry, reportedly struck the rear of a Ford F-150 pickup truck that had slowed for traffic. The impact caused the Toyota Camry to flip over.
Edgman and a passenger in the Camry were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Tragically, Edgman succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The 46-year-old driver of the Ford F-150 was not injured.
MNPD stated that there was no evidence of impairment on the part of either driver. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
