Mountain Iron, MN (January 29, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision resulting in injuries occurred Tuesday morning at the intersection of southbound Highway 169 and Rock Ridge Dr in Mountain Iron, St. Louis County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened around 9:09 a.m. when a 2014 Subaru Impreza, driven by 34-year-old Christopher Alan Hyatt of Hibbing, attempted to make a left turn onto Rock Ridge Dr. At the same time, a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 32-year-old Nicholas James Gorsha of Virginia, MN, was traveling northbound on Hwy 169 when it entered the intersection and struck the Subaru.
Emergency responders, including Virginia Fire Department and St. Louis County officials, arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision. Hyatt sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Virginia Regional Medical Center for treatment. Gorsha was reportedly uninjured.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and no alcohol was involved in the incident. The airbags deployed in both vehicles. Road conditions at the time of the crash were reported as dry.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
