The Ford Edge, driven by 78-year-old Daniel Robert Richardson from Lake City, MN, was traveling southbound on Highway 63 when it collided with the northbound GMC Acadia, driven by 44-year-old Kimberly Kaye Button from Oronoco, MN. Both vehicles deployed their airbags upon impact.

Richardson and Button both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Richardson did not require transport to a healthcare facility, while Button was taken to Lake City Hospital for treatment. A 10-year-old female passenger in the GMC Acadia also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Lake City Hospital.
