Mount Ida, AR (October 25, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on October 23, 2024, resulting in the death of a 46-year-old woman and injuries to another individual. At approximately 8:27 a.m., emergency responders were called to the scene of a collision on US Highway 270 East at Woodland Springs Drive.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2004 Honda CRV, driven by Amy Lewis of Oden, was traveling eastbound on US Highway 270 when it was involved in a collision with a 2018 Buick Regal, which was traveling westbound. Evidence at the scene suggests that the Buick crossed the centerline, striking the front portion of the Honda. The force of the impact caused the Honda to exit the roadway, traveling down an embankment into a creek, while the Buick came to a stop in a ditch on the north side of the highway.
Amy Lewis was ejected from her vehicle upon impact and tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Another occupant in the Honda, identified as Jeanna Roark, a 26-year-old from Pearcy, sustained injuries and was transported to UAMS for medical treatment.
The weather conditions at the time of the accident were clear, and the road was dry, which typically contributes to safer driving conditions. However, the circumstances surrounding this collision highlight the dangers of reckless driving and the severe consequences that can result from such actions.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Amy Lewis during this difficult time.
