Morrilton, AR (November 26, 2024) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a head-on collision at Harding St & Wilson St in Morrilton, Conway County, at approximately 6:28 p.m. The crash involved two vehicles, a 2024 Nissan Frontier and a 2009 Ford Edge, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.
David Lee Cook, a 70-year-old male from Hector, was driving the Nissan Frontier westbound on Harding Street when he failed to maintain his lane while navigating a slight curve. As a result, his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes, striking the Ford Edge head-on. Barbara R. Mallett, a 75-year-old female from Morrilton, was the driver of the Ford Edge, and Joyce Allene Cook, a 70-year-old female from Hector, was a passenger in the Nissan Frontier. Sadly, David Lee Cook was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Barbara Mallett and Joyce Cook were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Authorities have confirmed that the body of David Lee Cook was held at the Conway County Sheriff’s Office morgue, and those injured were taken to various local medical facilities, including CHI St. Vincent, UAMS LR, and Baptist LR.
