Morgan County, TN (March 3, 2025) – A tragic accident on Morgan County Highway resulted in one fatality and three injuries.
According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), Bobbie Hester, 64, was killed in the crash. Hester was driving a Nissan Rogue with one passenger when a Ford F250 traveling in the opposite direction failed to maintain its lane and crossed over the center line, striking the Nissan head-on.
Following the impact, both vehicles veered off the roadway and came to uncontrolled stops in the ditch line, according to authorities.
The driver of the Ford F250, Willard Gunter, 54, sustained injuries and has been charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, driving under the influence, drug paraphernalia possession, implied consent violation, and aggressive reckless driving. His passenger, Randy Peavyhouse, 55, was also injured and is facing charges for tampering with evidence and drug paraphernalia possession.
Law enforcement officials closed the area for several hours to investigate the crash. The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to review the circumstances surrounding this incident.
