Montgomery County, MD (November 29, 2024) – A deadly two-vehicle collision early Friday morning on southbound I-270 has left one person dead and four others injured. The crash, which occurred around 4:15 a.m. near Exit 1 (Rockledge Dr and Old Georgetown Rd), caused one of the vehicles to catch on fire. Emergency responders from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) arrived at the scene to find one individual entrapped in their vehicle. Despite efforts to save the victim, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four others from the second vehicle were taken to nearby hospitals with a variety of injuries. Their conditions are not currently known, but they are expected to recover.
