Montevideo, MN (December 24, 2024) – A collision involving three vehicles, including a semi-truck, occurred on Highway 212 near Carlton Drive in Sparta Township, Chippewa County. The accident was reported at approximately 6:00 AM, drawing responses from the Montevideo Police, Fire, and Ambulance teams, as well as the Yellow Medicine Sheriff’s Office.
Preliminary reports indicate that a westbound 2021 Freightliner semi-truck collided with two eastbound vehicles—a 2008 Dodge Avenger and a 2019 Jeep Compass—near the intersection of Carlton Drive. Both passenger vehicles deployed airbags during the collision, while the semi-truck did not.
Emergency responders provided care to individuals involved in the crash. The drivers of the Dodge Avenger, a 39-year-old male, and the Jeep Compass, a 33-year-old female, sustained injuries, the details of which will be released on December 24, 2024. The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 55-year-old David Allen Morrison of New Brighton, MN, was unharmed. Alcohol was not a factor in this crash, and all drivers were reportedly wearing seat belts.
