Monterey, CA (February 12, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on southbound US-101 near Tustin resulted in minor injuries Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident was first reported at approximately 1:51 PM, involving a white Toyota Highlander and a small gray vehicle. Initially, no injuries were reported, but as emergency responders arrived on the scene, it was later confirmed that at least one individual had sustained minor injuries. The CHP reclassified the incident from an unknown injury collision to a minor injury collision at 2:06 PM.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to assess the injured party, and AMR was notified to provide transport if necessary. Due to blocked traffic near the scene, responders were advised to take side streets to avoid delays when approaching from the south.
Both vehicles were moved to the right-hand shoulder to allow traffic to flow more freely, but minor delays persisted as authorities worked to clear the scene and complete their investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with officials looking into potential factors such as driver distraction, speed, or mechanical failure.
We are relieved that no serious injuries were reported and wish the injured party a swift recovery.
Car Accidents on US-101 in California
US-101 is one of California’s busiest highways, running along the state’s coastline and connecting numerous cities, including Monterey. With high traffic volumes and frequent merging lanes, collisions are common on this major route. Even minor accidents can cause significant disruptions, particularly during peak travel hours.
Common causes of accidents on highways like US-101 include distracted driving, sudden lane changes, speeding, and failure to yield.
