Monroe, MO (December 13, 2024) – A serious vehicle collision occurred at approximately 11:55 AM today on US 24, about 3 miles south of Monroe City. The crash involved a 2020 Mack truck and a 2005 Ford 500.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 2005 Ford 500, driven by a 60-year-old male from Monroe City, MO, crossed the center line and struck the 2020 Mack truck head-on. The driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries and was transported by air ambulance to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO for treatment. The 58-year-old male driver of the Mack truck, from Columbia, MO, was not injured.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage. The Ford 500 was totaled and towed by Robert’s Towing, while the Mack truck suffered moderate damage and was towed by Heartland Towing.
The incident prompted assistance from multiple agencies, including TPR Cundiff #377, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County Fire Department, and Monroe County Ambulance. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
