Monroe, CT (September 16, 2024) – A fire broke out at the Northbrook Condominiums on Rosewood Cir Saturday night, leaving one person injured and a cat dead. The Monroe Fire Department responded to the scene at around 6:30 p.m. And found flames coming from the second floor of a townhouse.
A disabled resident was rescued by a home health aide and police officers and later transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Firefighters also discovered a cat that had died from smoke inhalation during their search of the building.
Three adjoining units were evacuated safely, with only one sustaining smoke damage. Fire officials stated the fire started in the kitchen and was deemed unintentional. The investigation is ongoing.
