Monett, MO (November 23, 2024) – A serious pedestrian accident occurred late Friday night on MO 37, just a quarter mile south of Monett, leaving a 16-year-old male with significant injuries. The crash was reported at approximately 11:25 PM and was investigated by TPR. J.O. Prater of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
According to the crash report, a 2022 Ford Expedition driven by a 32-year-old male from Purdy, MO, was traveling southbound when the pedestrian unexpectedly jumped in front of the vehicle. Despite the driver’s attempt to avoid the collision, the vehicle struck the juvenile. The driver, who was wearing a safety device, sustained no injuries, and the vehicle had only minor damage and was driven from the scene.
Emergency responders transported the pedestrian by ambulance to Mercy Springfield for treatment of serious injuries. The circumstances surrounding why the pedestrian was in the roadway remain under investigation.
